Urban drabness...

"The efficiency postulate of modern urban development"
London, Great Britain. September 2010.

Perhaps you gotta be a country boy, perhaps you gotta know trees in their natural environment, trees with wind sighing through their leaves, trees that grant shelter for birds pausing their flight to sing their songs to the world, perhaps even to build their nests, perhaps you must have seen trees in their seasonable costumes to have a sensitive eye for such urban dreadfulness - for a nature radically tamed by mankind to an absurd, tin soldier-like degree of estrangement, for the attempt to create the square meter bare of characteristics, detached from history, tradition and native esthetics.

The efficiency postulate of modern urban development. Contemporary functionality ennobles itself above coziness, charm, classiness and comfort. Depressingly abnormal and destructive for heart, soul and mind.
